The hard shell clamshell-style box, lifts open, and inside is the Montegrappa Ducale Grande Fountain Pen. It's a good sized pen that is about three quarters of an inch in diameter at the top of the cap here, so it's a nice, large pen. If you're looking for a big pen, this is it. On the top of the cap, it has a crown-looking shape with a chrome color ring at the top, with "Montegrappa" engraved. Also the number of the pen on the backside. A couple of rings at the bottom of the cap, and the clip has a curvature, too, with a small rollerball at the end of the clip. At the bottom of the barrel, it tapers down just a little bit so you can post the cap on the end, with a small ring at the bottom.
The cap is threaded and unscrews, and like I said, it does post on the end but makes a pretty long pen. It's over seven inches long with the cap posted, so it's a little bit heavy in my opinion, using it to write with the cap posted. I probably would write without it posted. Chrome-colored section, it's a metal section with a two-tone Montegrappa nib, and you can see the feed on the backside.
Since it's a cartridge converter-style pen, the front section unscrews. Included with the pen is a Montegrappa converter for use with bottled inks. Nice pen. Great, large pen. If you're looking for something big, buy your Montegrappa Ducale Grande Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!
